Lowell Class of 1977

Email Invitation – Prototype

This is a prototype of the email invitation for our 50-Year Reunion. When a classmate opens the email, the envelope opens and the invitation comes out. The animation plays once and stops on the invitation. Reload this page to watch it again.

Animated invitation: a sealed envelope opens and the Lowell Class of 1977 50-Year Reunion invitation comes out
The animated picture as it would appear in the email (plays once)

Step by step

Five steps: sealed envelope; seal off and flap open; invitation sliding out; invitation coming forward; final invitation
Sealed envelope → flap opens → invitation slides out → comes forward with gold sparkles → final invitation

How the email would work

  • The animated picture plays by itself in Gmail, Apple Mail, iPhone and Android mail, Yahoo and Outlook on the web.
  • Older desktop Outlook on Windows shows only the first frame, the sealed envelope with “You’re Invited”, which still reads well.
  • Tapping the picture, or a button below it, opens the reunion page on Lowell77.com with the full details, tickets and the contact update form.
  • It would be sent through an email service such as Mailchimp, MailerLite or Brevo rather than from the lowell77@gmail.com account, so it doesn’t land in spam.

Questions for the committee

  • Do you like the envelope, the colors and the pace of the animation?
  • Should the invitation card show the time and ticket prices, or leave those for the website?
  • Card wording: keep “50 YEAR REUNION” to match the postcard front, or use “50-YEAR REUNION”?
  • When should it go out, and which email service should we use?
